After 53 years of operation, the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board underwent a restructuring process in accordance with Government Order 114 dated 08.10.2008. This transformation led to the establishment of a holding company known as "TNEB Ltd," along with two subsidiary companies, "Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Ltd." (TANTRANSCO) and "Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd." (TANGEDCO), as mandated by the Electricity Act of 2003. The creation of TNEB Ltd. took place on November 1, 2010.
